License Activation & Tiers

License Tiers Overview

PrimeConnect offers three license tiers designed to fit different use cases — from individual evaluators to professional bookkeepers managing dozens of clients. Every tier includes the complete feature set: importing, exporting, bulk deleting, operation history, rollback, and all supported QuickBooks entity types. The differences between tiers are limited to company file limits and machine limits.

This means you never lose access to a feature because of your plan — you simply choose the tier that matches the number of QuickBooks company files you work with and how many computers you need to run PrimeConnect on.

Trial License

The Trial license gives you full, unrestricted access to every PrimeConnect feature for 7 days — completely free and with no credit card required. During the trial period you can connect to unlimited QuickBooks company files on a single machine, letting you thoroughly evaluate the software before committing to a paid plan.

  • Duration: 7 calendar days from the moment you activate.
  • Company files: Unlimited — test with as many company files as you need.
  • Machines: 1 — the trial is bound to the computer where you activate it.
  • Activation method: Email verification via one-time password (OTP). No license key needed.

Tip: Use the trial to test all three core operations — import, export, and bulk delete — with your actual QuickBooks data. There are no feature restrictions during the trial period.

Standard License

The Standard license is ideal for individual users and small businesses that work with one or two QuickBooks company files on a single workstation. It includes every feature in PrimeConnect with an annual subscription.

  • Machines: 1 — your license is bound to a single computer.
  • Activation method: License key + email verification.

Premium License

The Premium license is designed for bookkeepers, accountants, and firms managing multiple clients. It removes all company file limits and supports up to three machines, so your team can work from different workstations without juggling license slots.

  • Company files: Unlimited — connect to as many QuickBooks company files as you manage.
  • Machines: Up to 3 — install on your office desktop, laptop, and a second workstation.
  • Activation method: License key + email verification.

Activating Your License

Activating your PrimeConnect license takes less than a minute. Here is the step-by-step process:

  1. Open PrimeConnect and navigate to the Account page using the sidebar.
  2. Enter your email address — this is the email associated with your purchase.
  3. Enter your license key — you received this via email when you purchased your subscription. (Trial users skip this step.)
  4. Click the Activate button.
  5. PrimeConnect contacts the license server to verify your credentials and bind the license to your machine.
  6. Once verified, you will see a confirmation message and your license status will update immediately.

The entire process requires an active internet connection. After activation, PrimeConnect works fully offline for all import, export, and delete operations — internet is only needed for license checks, renewal, and automatic updates.

OTP Verification

Trial license activation uses email-based OTP (One-Time Password) verification instead of a license key. This keeps the trial frictionless — no purchase or payment information needed.

  1. On the Account page, enter your email address and click Start Trial.
  2. PrimeConnect sends a 6-digit verification code to your email.
  3. Check your inbox (and spam/junk folder) for an email from PrimeConnect.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code in the verification field and click Verify.
  5. Your trial is now active and the 7-day countdown begins.

Warning: OTP codes expire after a few minutes. If your code has expired, click Resend Code to request a fresh one. Do not reuse an expired code — it will be rejected by the server.

Machine Binding

When you activate a license, PrimeConnect generates a hardware fingerprint of your computer and registers it with the license server. This fingerprint is based on your machine's CPU and disk identifiers, creating a unique signature that ties your license to that specific computer.

Machine binding happens automatically during activation — you do not need to configure anything manually. Each license tier has a defined machine limit:

  • Trial: 1 machine
  • Standard: 1 machine
  • Premium: Up to 3 machines

If you need to move your license to a new computer, you must first deactivate the old machine from the Account page before activating on the new one. See the Deactivating a Machine section for details.

Trial Expiration

After 7 calendar days, your trial license expires. When this happens:

  • PrimeConnect will display a renewal prompt when you launch the application.
  • You will not be able to perform import, export, or delete operations until you activate a paid license.
  • Your data, settings, and operation history are fully preserved — nothing is deleted when the trial ends.
  • You can purchase a Standard or Premium license at any time to resume using PrimeConnect immediately.

Tip: Your operation history and saved mapping templates are not lost when the trial expires. Once you activate a paid license, everything is right where you left it.

Upgrading Your Tier

If you are on the Standard tier and need more company files or additional machines, you can upgrade to Premium at any time. Here is how:

  1. Send an email to support@tryprimeconnect.com with the subject line “Upgrade to Premium.”
  2. Include your license key and the email address associated with your account.
  3. Our support team will process the upgrade and send you a new license key (or update your existing one).
  4. Prorated pricing is available — you only pay the difference for the remaining time on your current subscription period.

After the upgrade is processed, reactivate your license in PrimeConnect (Account page → Activate) to unlock the higher tier limits. The transition is seamless and does not affect your existing data or operation history.
