Before any import, create a backup: File → Create Backup → Create Local Backup
Navigate to File → Utilities → Import → IIF Files
Browse to the downloaded chart-of-accounts.iif file and click Open.
QuickBooks® will display a confirmation message. Click OK to complete the import.
Go to Lists → Chart of Accounts to verify all accounts were imported correctly.
Edit → Preferences → Accounting → Company PreferencesSimple Start, Essentials, Plus, Advanced
Click the Settings (⚙️) gear icon, then select Import Data
From the import options, choose Chart of Accounts
Click Browse and select your downloaded chart-of-accounts.csv file.
QuickBooks® will auto-detect columns. Verify that Account Name, Type, and Detail Type are correctly mapped.
Review the preview, check for any warnings, then click Import to complete.
An account with that name already exists. Either rename the account in your file or delete the existing account in QuickBooks® first.
The account type code is not recognized. Make sure you're using the correct format (IIF for Desktop, CSV for Online).
Check if accounts are marked as inactive. Go to Chart of Accounts and enable "Include inactive" to view them.
Ensure your CSV has the required columns: Account Name, Type, and Detail Type. Our generator includes all required columns.
